The Tijuana cartel is one of the most powerful in the world. This cartel has been responsible for several crimes over the years, such as drug trafficking, money laundering, and extortion. It has also been the subject of a number of investigations over the past few years. These investigations have led to a series of arrests, and have made it clear who is in charge of the organization. Some of these individuals include: Fernando “El Ingeniero” Sanchez Arellano, Benjamin Arellano Felix, and Eduardo Teodoro “El Teo” Garcia Simental.
Enedina Arellano Felix
Enedina Arellano Felix, a real-life drug kingpin, leads the Tijuana cartel. She is a cousin of the group’s founding members. As a narcotrafficker, she has earned the respect of her peers.
Her family has been associated with drug trafficking for many years. They reportedly supplied cocaine to the U.S., and marijuana to the U.S. In the early 1980s, they were one of the top narcotraffickers in the country.
The Arellano Felix family started losing influence in the mid-2000s. Benjamin Arellano Felix was the leader of the organization in the late 1980s and early 1990s. He oversaw criminal operations and kidnapping of rival traffickers.
Enedina was a key advisor to Benjamin Arellano Felix. It is believed that she helped him run the organization. However, she only took over the day-to-day operation of the organization after her brothers were arrested.
The Arellano Felix family is comprised of seven siblings. Benjamin Arellano Felix is 69 years old. He is currently on the run from the DEA. After being extradited to the United States, he will face trial in federal court in San Diego, California.
Fernando “El Ingeniero” Sanchez Arellano
Luis Fernando Sanchez Arellano, better known as El Ingeniero, is a suspected leader of the Tijuana Cartel. He is a nephew of the Arellano Felix brothers who ran the cartel, and has been regarded as one of the most powerful drug traffickers in the world.
A faction led by Sanchez Arellano, and his renegade lieutenant, Teodoro Garcia Simental, fought with El Teo for control of the plaza in Tijuana. This resulted in a bloody turf battle in Baja California. However, after the death of Arellano Felix, the violence in the city decreased.
One federal official said that Sanchez was arrested in a military raid in Tijuana on Monday. Sanchez was wearing a green Mexico soccer shirt and had a face painted in the team colors. The Mexican Attorney General’s Office offered a reward of 30 million pesos for information leading to his arrest.
Several of the mid-level members of the Arellano Felix cartel have been killed or jailed since 2002. However, the cartel still maintains its infrastructure in the eastern part of the city.
Eduardo Teodoro “El Teo” Garcia Simental
Eduardo Teodoro “El Teo” Garcia Simental is one of the key lieutenants for the Tijuana Cartel. This is a cartel that is mainly operating in four cities in Baja California state. However, there are also a number of other cases where drug traffickers have been caught.
There is an ongoing battle between Sanchez and Garcia for control of the Tijuana/Baja drug corridor. It has become a bloody turf battle. According to Mexican law enforcement officials, the fight is responsible for much of the killing around Tijuana.
Teodoro Garcia Simental was arrested in La Paz, Baja California Sur, on January 12, 2010. He is believed to be behind the violence that has plagued Tijuana and the border. In addition to being a feared drug lord, he was linked to extortions and kidnappings in the Tijuana region.
Several news reports have highlighted the mutilated bodies of victims, including those who have been beheaded. The names of Sanchez and Garcia have appeared in numerous news reports over the past year.
Benjamin Arellano Felix
Arellano Felix ran the Tijuana cartel for over two decades. His family has been involved in smuggling marijuana and consumer electronics in the United States for years. But the organization has struggled in recent years.
The cartel was in the midst of a conflict with the Sinaloa cartel. A shootout occurred in 2002 in which Arellano’s brother, Ramon, was killed. In the ensuing years, the cartel has lost control of much of its territory. Currently, the Arellano-Felix Organization (OCG) is considered a rival to the Sinaloa cartel.
Benjamin Arellano Felix has been arrested and charged with drug trafficking and money laundering. He will be tried in federal court in San Diego. During the hearing, Arellano acknowledged his guilt.
He was accused of leading a criminal operation that kidnapped and tortured rival traffickers. He also oversaw the murder of several informants.
In addition to running a drug smuggling business, Arellano Felix ran an office that controlled financial transactions. His organization was once allied with the Gulf OCG. But after the Guadalajara OCG broke up, the Arellano-Felix organization became the sole drug trafficking organization in Tijuana.
