In addition, he has served as a two-time Commissioner on the Los Angeles Fire & Police Pension Board, where he manages over $19 billion in assets. Recently, he completed his term as the 143rd President of the Los Angeles County Medical Association.

The first, CareNex, a specialty hospital care company, was acquired by Anthem, Inc. in 2013. The second, Boss Surgical Group, was acquired by Verity Health in 2017.
HealthCorps is a national nonprofit that works to improve the mental and physical health of teens and young adults. To achieve this goal, the organization places health coordinators in schools across the country. They teach students healthy habits and prevent disease through a curriculum.
