Pam Baer is a successful businesswoman who supports a variety of nonprofit organizations. She is a member of the Founder’s Circle of Every Mother Counts, serves on the board of the Giants Community Fund, and is an advisory board member for Nest. In addition to her work in the nonprofit sector, she has also served on many boards and held various trustee positions. Pam is married to Larry Baer, CEO of the San Francisco Giants. Together, they have four children.
The mission of the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital is to provide the City’s most vulnerable citizens with high-quality, compassionate health care. The hospital’s staff provides care to more than 8,000 people each year, with most of them suffering from mental illness, substance abuse, or homelessness. The hospital is one of the nation’s leading academic medical centers, working in partnership with the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine.
Foundation
The Pam Baer Foundation supports Zuckerberg San Francisco general hospital, a nonprofit medical center dedicated to providing care for the most vulnerable in our community. The hospital serves a wide range of population groups, including the homeless, the poor and people of color. In addition to providing quality medical care, the hospital is committed to health equity and improving accessibility.
In addition to supporting the hospital, the Foundation supports innovative medical research and innovative care. Since 2004, the Foundation has awarded more than $8 million in grants. The grants program is funded by the Foundation’s annual fund and Heroes & Hearts event.
Work with Transform Mental & Behavioral Health Fund
Pam Baer has a history of giving to a variety of nonprofit organizations. In addition to serving as a lifetime director of the San Francisco General Hospital Foundation, she is a member of the Board of Directors and a long-time supporter of the hospital. The San Francisco General Hospital Foundation has raised millions of dollars under her leadership. She has also served on the boards of Every Mother Counts and Family House. Pam Baer holds board and trustee positions in several organizations and believes that the community needs to support the hospital and their efforts to treat mental health disorders.
Through the Transform Mental & Behavioral Health Fund, Baer has provided nearly $5 million for projects aimed at preventing and treating mental illness. The fund also works to de-stigmatize mental health and increase access to care. For example, a program called Telecare Health will be funded through the fund to provide mental health care to people in need when they are not able to travel.
Community involvement
Pam Baer has been involved in many different causes throughout her life, but her top priority has always been improving the public health care system. As a lifelong director of the San Francisco General Hospital Foundation, she was a vital force in helping to fund solutions for vulnerable populations.
The foundation is dedicated to improving the quality of care for those in need, including patients and staff. The Foundation meets regularly to discuss funding proposals, plan events, and support programs and services. It also supports efforts to improve the accessibility of health care for underserved populations.
The Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital Foundation is an independent 501(c)3 not-for-profit corporation that provides philanthropic support to the hospital. Its mission is to promote the quality of care, research, and education at the hospital. The Foundation’s goal is to raise funds to sustain the compassionate care that the hospital provides to its patients and to provide innovative health care to the community.
Awards
During her career with the Giants, Baer received a number of prestigious awards for her civic leadership and contributions to the community. She received the San Francisco Distinguished Leadership Award in 1996, the Sports Torch of Learning Award from the Scopus Society of American Friends of Hebrew University in 1995, and the Anti-Defamation League’s Torch of Liberty Award in 2001. In 2010, she was named Person of the Year by the San Francisco Boys and Girls Club. She was also named an Alumni of the Year by the Harvard Business School, and she received a Civic Leadership Award from the American Jewish Committee.
Pam Baer has also served as a lifetime director on the board of directors of the San Francisco General Hospital Foundation. She joined the board in 2000 and was elected as a Lifetime Director when she stepped down in 2018. She has also facilitated philanthropic activities and raised millions of dollars for the hospital. In 2018, Pam Baer helped launch the Transform Mental and Behavioral Health Fund to help patients suffering from mental and behavioral diseases. This fund raised $5 million for the hospital.
