Throughout her career, Dr. Katie Evans has worked with numerous addiction and substance abuse treatment programs for adolescents and adults. She is also a nationally recognized expert in trauma and addictions. She has co-authored several client workbooks and has published in the field of Dual Diagnosis. She has been awarded over $5M in state and federal grants. She has served on the Grand Challenges Scholars Program Proposal Review Committee. She is also an adjunct faculty member at Portland State University.

Having a knack for writing, Katie Evans is an entrepreneur at heart. She’s also an avid sports fan and a voracious reader. After a stint as a copywriter at Bloomingdale’s, she moved on to a job at the Washington state DMV. She’s currently a member of the PCMA’s Michigan chapter and serves as its Membership Chair. She’s also an avid roller skater and Spotify addict. And, despite her recent move from the Pacific Northwest to the big apple, she’s still a die hard Red Sox fan.
She hasn’t yet figured out what she’s going to do with her life, but she does have a plan in place.
Paintings
Using the art of drawing pencil on paper, Katie Evans is a graphic designer and a fine artist in her own right. She sells her drawings as prints and stationery in her etsy shop, Hello Hello Design. She also churns out light-hearted illustrations that are worth checking out. Her work has been featured in publications such as Wallpaper and Matchbook Magazine. It’s no surprise that her paintings have been displayed at galleries across the nation. Her work is on display in the galleries of Kate Spade New York, as well as in the storied art gallery of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Research
Currently, Katie Evans is the Director of the Integrated STEM Education Research Center at the University of Virginia. She is also the Associate Dean for Strategic Initiatives at the College of Engineering and Science. She has a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Morehead State University and a Ph.D in mathematics from Virginia Tech. She has been awarded more than $5 million in federal, state and local grants. Her research interests include diversity and inclusion initiatives and STEM education. She also serves as the chair of the National Academy of Engineering Grand Challenges Scholars Program Proposal Review Committee.
She also sits on the consumer forum for the Open Banking Implementation Entity, and has worked with a variety of financial services providers, fintech firms, and large financial service providers. She has extensive experience in researching vulnerable consumers and consumer behavior. In her research, she has been studying the links between mental health problems and financial difficulty.
