During Lennie Paul Tracey’s trial for the 2011 murder of Anthony Davis, the prosecution tried to establish propensity evidence that he had an acrimonious relationship with Anthony Davis and his wife. During a trial in November 2012, Lonnie Paul Tracey was convicted of first degree murder for the murder of Anthony Davis. He is serving 54 years in prison. He will not have a chance to serve parole until September 2036.
The trial centered on surveillance footage recovered by detective Brandt House. The evidence was played in the jury’s presence. The defendant had a shotgun in his hand. The jury heard him saying in the background, “I’m right here.” During his trial, he testified that he had shot Anthony Davis in self-defense.
The victim, Anthony Davis, was shot twice. He was 51 years old at the time. His wife, Cindy, was in the home at the time. After the shooting, the defendant pointed the gun at Anthony’s wife. Lennie Tracey later testified that he knew it was Anthony Davis.
The victim was shot in front of a group of neighbors who were clustered in the walkway in front of the home. The victim did not see the shooting. Nichole Soto, who lived a few doors down from the victim, said she saw Mr. Tracey twice open the door.
