During the past several years, Bird Martinez has been on a healing journey. She has had stab wounds to her chest, neck and back, and has been threatened with a knife by her oldest daughter. This article gives an account of the incident and her healing journey.
stab wounds to the neck and back
Earlier this week, Mountain View High School in Orem, Utah was the target of a stabbing attack. Four students were injured in the attack and two of them were critically injured. The other two were in fair to critical condition.
The incident began when two students stabbed each other in the locker room. The full-time school resource officer, who was at the school, was able to subdue the suspect with a Taser. The suspect was taken to a hospital for treatment. The students were then released from the school.
Investigators are now looking into the motive of the stabbing attack. The victim gave police a description of the attackers and stated that she knew the license plate number of the car. The school district spokeswoman said that the suspect was a “straight-A” student who had previously homeschooled.
The suspect was released from the hospital on Tuesday. He was found to have seven stab wounds and a punctured lung.
stab wounds to the chest
Several people were stabbed at the scene and some were sent to hospital. The injured were deemed not life threatening, with some requiring treatment at the scene.
According to the medical examiner, the best way to prevent a stabbing is to stay out of the way. But this was not the case for David Martinez. The 43-year-old had a dual Spanish and Colombian nationality and a history of violence. He was stabbed seven times and suffered a near-severed ear and a punctured lung. Doctors have little expectation of his recovery.
In January of 2020, Martinez’s youngest daughter, Erika “Bird” Martinez, was attacked in a similar fashion. The attacker, Jose Alberto Albarran, was a known drug dealer and sufferer of Bipolar Schizoaffective Disorder. He became unstable after using crystal meth. He was able to evade arrest only after his father intervened.
There are two men who have been charged with murder. One is an 18-year-old from Tooting, and the other is a 22-year-old from Leyton. They will be arraigned in the coming weeks. They are also charged with GBH.
threat to her oldest daughter with a knife
Several months ago, my wife and I stumbled upon the wife’s uncle and his wife at a local watering hole. Several weeks later, we had to leave town because we could not get along. After a short stint in a rehab facility, we found ourselves at the hands of an unfriendly law enforcement personnel. The best we could do was leave the state and move to another state. After a few months of living a nomadic existence, we found ourselves in a new state and on the road to a new home. After a few years of being a semi-serious slacker, we were finally able to regain some semblance of sanity. The one thing that remained constant was our desire to get back on the road. We now reside in a state we have not visited in more than 20 years. We are currently working on getting a new lease on life and putting the right people in the right place at the right time.
healing journey
During the first months following the Brussels bombing, the Martinez family underwent grueling rehabilitative procedures. They were moved to Shriners Hospitals for Children in Galveston, Texas. The family lost three members in the attack.
Martinez stayed quiet because the wound was fresh. He and his wife, Gail, had a joking promise before they married that they would be the first to go. This promise gave comfort when the possibility of losing one another became reality. The attacks on March 22 also claimed the lives of 32 people at the Brussels airport and Maelbeek metro station. The attack was a horrific event and it left Martinez devastated. The family was separated for hours and Martinez struggled with the loss.
After two years, Martinez felt that she could no longer support herself. She worked four jobs to make ends meet. Eventually, Martinez decided to enroll at Philadelphia University. She was able to successfully complete her associates degree in psychology. She plans to go into family therapy and open her own practice.
